Pricing

At The Beach Donkey, we try to keep things simple. There are no hidden extras such as cleaning, booking or service fees – these are all included in our prices below.


We ask for a minimum booking of 3 nights apart from bank holiday weekends when it’s 4 nights, Easter is 5 nights and during the Summer Holidays (5th Jul '24 - 6th Sep '24) when it’s 7 nights 


  • Most weeks of the year are £2,450 per week  - £350 per night

  

  • Easter holidays (28th Mar - 17th Apr ‘25) are £2,800 per week - £400 per night
  • May Bank Holiday (2nd - 9th May '25) is £2,800 per week - £400 per night
  • Summer half term (23rd - 30th May '25) is £2,975 per week - £425 per night
  • October half term (17th - 31st Oct '25) is £2,800 per week - £400 per night


  • Easter weekend (18th-25th Apr '25) is £2,975 per week - £425 per night
  • Summer holidays (27th Jun - 5th Sep '25) are £3,325 per week - £475 per night
     
  • Aldeburgh Carnival week (15th - 22nd Aug '25) is £3,675 per week - £525 per night.

Helpful Information

The house will be ready by 4pm on the first day or your stay and we ask you to depart before 11am on the last day


  • We ask for a 25% deposit to secure your booking with the rental balance being payable 2 months before the start of your holiday. If the booking is made less than 2 months before the start of your holiday, we ask for full payment at the time of booking. 
  • A security deposit of £500 is payable when the rental balance becomes due.
  • If you need to cancel and your booking is due to start in more than two months, your deposit will be retained but no further rental charges will be payable. If the booking is due to start in less than two months, the total amount will be retained. We will however try our best to re-let the property for the period of your booking, and if successful, your payment will be refunded less the deposit. 
  • No unaccompanied minors

Facilities at the house

Heating, hot water & electricity

  • The house is very well insulated and the heating and hot water are provided by a gas boiler 


The kitchen

  • Oven, hob & microwave (additional oven in The Dinkey)Large fridge/freezer, a smaller drinks fridge in the main house (plus a small fridge in the Dinkey)
  • Dishwasher
  • Espresso machine
  • Kettle, toaster & toasted-sandwich maker (additional kettle in the Dinkey)
  • Ice machine in the Dinkey
  • Picnic & storage including plastic glasses for the beach
  • We make sure there is a decent number of tea towels and good quality kitchen knives!


Cleaning & laundry

  • Each bed has a duvet, 2 pillows per person, towels, flannel and a beach towel
  • If you are staying for two weeks, we are happy to come in and do a mid-stay clean and laundry change at a convenient time if you plan to be out. There is no charge for this.
  • Washer/dryer in the main house and a separate tumble in the Dinkey
  • Ironing board, airer and iron 
  • Dishwasher tablets, bin bags etc are all there – if you’ve finished something, please either replenish it or write it on the black board inside the cleaning cupboard next to the main fridge/freezer - thank you!


Games

  • There are lots of games in the black cupboards under the TV: Scrabble, Jenga, Bananagram, Guess Who, Orangutwang (like Buckaroo), jigsaws, Chess, 2 x packs of cards, Cards Against Humanity, juggling balls, Pass the Pigs, Rummikub, Honeycomb
  • There are some basic tennis rackets and cricket for the beach in the basket under the stairs


Wifi, TV & speaker

  • The main house and Dinkey have a smart TV each
  • Wifi is available both the main house and the Dinkey
  • There is a wireless Sonos speaker 


Courtyard & beach

  • The private secure courtyard is operated by electric gates
  • A BBQ, with its gas, is in the courtyard
  • The hot & cold outdoor shower is great to rinse off after a swim
  • 4 bike rack spots 
  • Outside table, chairs and umbrella plus 4 chairs on the upstairs terrace
  • We provide beach chairs and a wind break to take to the beach


Dogs

  • We are happy to accommodate up to two dogs but we ask you to let us know at the time of booking; we do however ask that no pets are allowed at the Property unless agreed in advance 
  • We ask that your dog is kept strictly to the ground floor of the property, and not allowed on furniture or in any of the bedrooms.


Health

  • The nearest Hospital for Accident & Emergency is Ipswich Hospital and there is a pharmacy on the High Street 


What to bring & things to note

  • Swimming shoes, warm clothes, wetsuits, wellies in winter & an empty stomach!


Accessing the house

  • We will send the latest entry codes approximately a short while before your booking is due to start


Parking & charging

  • The courtyard can park one car easily. Two smaller ones are possible but the garden table area may be compromised.
  • Cars can also be parked for free on certain roads nearby or, with a small payment, in a car park a couple of minutes’ walk from the house
  • Fast chargers are available 6 miles inland at Friday Street Farm Shop (IP17 1JX) which is at the junction of the A12 and A1094 to Aldeburgh


Local information

  • We will send a comprehensive document with information about restaurants, pubs, food shops, catering, parking and local activities when the booking is confirmed to help you get excited and prepared for your stay


Annual events info

  • Aldeburgh Festival at Snape in June is run by https://brittenpearsarts.org/ 
  • Aldeburgh Docfest is run by Aldeburgh Cinema Trust and is at the end of November https://aldeburghcinema.co.uk/AldeburghCinema.dll/Page?p=588885&m=m 
  • Aldeburgh Yacht Club sailing regattas tend to be the second & third weeks of August and, even if you’re not participating, provide a very pretty backdrop to walks along the river walls
  • The Aldeburgh Carnival is around third week of August
  • Thorpeness Regatta is around third week of August
  • Aldeburgh Food Festival often third weekend in September and, despite its name, is held at Snape Maltings
